KS-1596 Kershaw Spec Bump
A Bump Up in Style and Performance
Both the Speed Bump and the Spec Bump feature an innovative recurve blade with a unique look and high-performance function. Custom knife maker Ken Onion designed the recurve to provide minimal mass, maximum performance, and extreme multi-tasking efficiency. The recurve provides ideal leverage in tough cutting situations, while the precisely centered point handles piercing tasks with style and ease. Both Speed Bump and Spec Bump feature Kershaw's famous SpeedSafe® assisted opening system for easy opening and smooth operation. Both also have the patented Stud-Lock®, which keeps the blade safe and secure in the open position with a three-point-lockup.
For a lighter weight knife, choose the Speed Bump. It offers a Sandvik 13C26 stainless-steel blade for toughness, durability, and excellent edge retention. its lighter weight is, in part, due to a tough, but lightweight Akulon® handle. Akulon® is an engineering plastic that retains its outstanding mechanical properties over a wide temperature range and in diverse operating environments.
For an extra-secure grip, Kershaw enhances the Speed Bump with a Santoprene® overlay. Santoprene® has the flexibility and durability of natural rubber, but with a much longer life.
When Ken Onion set out to design the next generation of Bump knives, he called for some very demanding "specs." The result is Kershaw's Spec Bump. He started with a premium-quality S30V steel blade. This high-end stainless-steel holds an edge extremely well and manages to remain tough even at its high hardness - around 60 on the Rockwell scale. For extra durability and performance, the blade is coated with Tungsten DLC coating.
The Spec Bump's handles are built of durable G-10 machined in a radiating, three-dimensional texture for a secure grip in any environment.
With their amazing looks, premium quality materials, and incredible function, both Speed Bump and Spec Bump are a significant bump up from ordinary knives.
