The American Legend, now with oval shaped Kraton G thermoplastic elastomer handles.

Like the standard KaBar's, these knives feature high carbon steel (1095) blades, buff polished edges, powdered metal butt caps, and carbon steel guards, all of which have been epoxy powder coated.

The Black KaBars feature four edge and sheath options:

• KA-1211 comes with a straight edge and leather sheath
• KA-1212 comes with a 2" triple peaked serrated edge, and leather sheath
• KA-1213 features a straight edge and Kydex sheath
• KA-1214 features a 2" triple peaked serrated edge, and leather sheath

About the Kydex sheaths - Kydex is well known for its impact, abrasion and corrosion resistance and all weather performance. It is impervious to most chemicals, petroleum based products and moisture, including salt water.

The Kydex sheath is ambidexterous (can be used right or left handed), and the knife is held snugly in place by custom contoured knife cavities and friction bars on the back of the sheath. The sheath also features a heavy duty polypropylene belt loop and securing straps, as well as a slip lock on the belt loop itself. Eight eyelet rivets and for strap slots make for a secure and flexible tie down system, and there is a drain hole on the back of the sheath to prevent water build up.
