His original M16 aluminum build series for Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT) has proven to be one of our most popular lines, largely because of its combination of premium materials, ergonomic design and excellent value. In 2003, it was named one of the Top 10 Factory Tactical Folders of the Decade by Blade magazine.
The reasons are the signature M16 features: Wide blade design for multiple and difficult tasks. Sure-grip contoured handles of 6061 T6 hard anodized charcoal gray aluminum with a perimeter radius for a comfortable grip with or without work gloves. A stainless steel locking liner with friction grooves for positive locking with limited access and superior safety. AUS 8 stainless steel blades, chosen for edge retention and durability, in non-reflective frost finish. Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edges for rugged cutting tasks that break down standard cutting edges.
All models feature the “Carson Flipper” extension to the blade, which aids opening and acts as an additional blade guard. It makes the M16 line especially easy to open when wearing gloves.
The M16®-14 Big Dog is a hefty, full-size working knife with a modified dual grind Tanto-style blade.
The M16®-13 has a slim profile design that is ideal for a variety of carry positions. It features a spear point blade with a false grind on the top edge.
The M16®-12 is a little bulldog with a powerful Tanto-style dual grind blade, packing a lot of power in a compact package.
One-hand opening and closing is velvet smooth, the result of Teflon® bearings at the blade pivot. The ambidextrous thumb studs with checkered surface provide instant access in any circumstance. Every model features a removable Teflon-plated stainless steel clothing/gear clip.
For 2007, M16 models feature our patented* AutoLAWKS™ knife safety, which provides fully automatic actuation. Based on the Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS®), it immediately turns the folder into a fixed blade when the blade is opened and locked. Release the AutoLAWKS lever, release the locking liner, and it folds to an easily carried length. You have the advantages of a fixed blade without the disadvantage of a costly sheath carry system.
AutoLAWKS still allows the quick and smooth one-hand opening and closing that our Carson series is known for, the result of precision tolerances and Teflon® bearings. The ambidextrous thumb studs with checkered surfaces provide instant access in any circumstance.
